Nothing gives you perspective like a medical crisis affecting someone you love, especially a child. Bret’s personal journey through an earth shattering diagnosis and the triumph of faith, family and modern medicine is both harrowing and hopeful.

Bret weaves an engaging love story around his son’s life and death struggle with congenital heart disease and gives hope to all as he chronicles the remarkable medical advances that saved his son.

RECOMMENDATION:  Order the book and spread the word.  It is not only a loving family story but also of the tremendous advances in modern medicine.

In my next update, I will tell you how I happened to meet the wonderful Bret Baier and the courtesy he extended to my grandson Marco and my wife Robin during our visit to Washington, DC for Marco’s Spring Break.  Robin made the connection to Bret and the kind Assistant and Associate Web Producer Katy Ricalde.  Details later.

2- GADGET UPDATE:  You will recall my frustration mentioned in previous updates that Apple iPhone and iPad do not allow a USB connection for easy back up of a photo or a document I am writing.  This is not a problem for most people who back up in the cloud or on their local computer.  But there is a circumstance when you have no Internet connection or other computer and you wish to back up periodically a long document you may be writing (or a book you are writing!).  Example, a long plane trip without Internet availability.  It appears the solution has arrived.  San Disk sells a USB thumb drive that connects wirelessly to your iPhone or iPad.  I purchased one this week at Best Buy and it works! The only one in stock was the 32 GB and it was $59.00 You have to download a free app called “SanDisk” at the Apple Store for it to function as a transfer device.  Remember, you do not need the Internet for this transfer to occur!  I love creativity and innovation.

Here is the SanDisk description of the device:

Here is a video demonstrating the gadget.  Note that it is small like a thumb drive and it also functions as a thumb drive.  The video gives more details as to how it functions.

Stay well,

Donald
