2- R.I.P. Roy Wesley Vandiver, MD, a wonderful friend
A friend, Roy Wesley Vandiver, MD, died at age 84 on April 15, 2020.
Those who knew Roy in Georgia and at the AMA understand what a treasure the world lost.  He was a talented neurosurgeon, business man, and a kind and gentle man. He was a perfect example of a gentleman.
Read his obituary to get an idea what you missed if you did not know him.  The second link gives a peek into the charitable work he and his wonderful wife Maureen accomplished.
May he Rest in Peace.

Stay well.  Stay safe!  Now getting ready for tonight’s ZOOM session with Orleans and Jefferson Parish medical societies to hear experts on the front lines treating patients with COVID-19.  An excellent way to stay informed about local conditions.  A good model to copy.

DJP Update July 17, 2020 – 1- Video podcast with KevinMD re the importance of story in memorable speeches – 2- LAGNIAPPE

Getting word out about my latest book has been a challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic.  Studio interviews and book signings cancelled.  But challenges inspire creativity and the world responds with easier and better video conferencing.  After much research and trial and error, I now have my videocasting studio completed in my home library with professional lights and green screen background.

Here is the latest interview with the Internet famous KevinMD.  He is very professional and creates a good product.  I recommend you join his free updates.  My interview with him was posted last night.

You can view it by going to:
https://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2020/07/the-power-of-story-and-other-essential-physician-speaking-tips-podcast.html
 And leave a comment!

An image from the podcast:

LAGNIAPPE:  If you missed another interview, go to: http://breakingmed.org/article.html?articleid=82159 for the interview with Peggy Peck, Editor-in-Chief of BreakingMed.

Special Considerations for Communicating With Colleagues and Patients: Covid-19

An important message from these interviews:  Include personal stories in your speeches and interviews.  Always have a short key message that you will include before the interview or speech is completed.

Stay well.  Stay Safe!  I wear a mask and a face shield when I venture out.  Strongly recommend the same to you.  I will be 81 y.o. this month and am fortunate to have the longevity gene but departure can occur at any time as we all know!  I would like to get my new book, A LEADER’S GUIDE TO GIVING A MEMORABLE SPEECH, on the bestseller list before I depart this earth.  Any help you can give by spreading the word is appreciated!
